OUR TEACHER
Judy Burdine

Judy BurdineJudy Burdine has been the teacher at Little Indian Preschool since 1999. Prior to Little Indian, Judy taught preschool in Adrian, Michigan for three years. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.

She has been married to Greg since 1981. They have four children. Jennifer is a teacher. Joshua is with the US Marines. Jill is living in Ohio. Justin is a senior in high school.

As an involved parent, Judy feels right at home in a cooperative preschool setting. Her youngest child attended a cooperative preschool when they moved to Michigan - they lived in Iowa and Ohio prior to moving to Michigan- and she is aware of the benefits of the cooperative preschool environment as both a parent and as a teacher.

"One of the things parents frequently ask is how being part of a co-op benefits parents," Judy says. "I tell them that parents learn to be their child's advocates in the classroom and observe how their child interacts with their peers. Parents also interact with other parents of preschoolers. These are some of the rewards for parents involved in a cooperative preschool."

Judy says that the benefits for children are countless. "One of the most obvious things is that kids get used to working with adults and trusting adults. They also have the opportunity of having their parent very involved in their first school experience."
